Muse (branded in lowercase as “muse”) is a daily reflection app that focuses on gratitude in the path of mindfulness. This app will help users document memories in dynamic ways with abstract concepts like colors, audio, texture, and other visual media to create moodboards associated with each event.
Background
National Institute of Health studies find that mindfulness is conducive to better mental and physical health. One technique included in mindfulness is daily reflections. However, it is easy to focus on the negative part of your day during reflection, dwelling on the bad rather than being thankful for the good.
Recalling events can look different for everyone; some recall words and audio, some recall textures, and some best associate an event with color and other visual queues not traditionally offered in reflection apps.

Target Audience & UX Ecosystem
People who practice mindfulness and want to document the positive points of their daily life as a form of cognitive behavioral therapy would find this app most useful.
The app's ecosystem is local to the user and people they choose to circulate in their network. Networks must be made by mutual decision and will not have a suggestion for function; instead a user must directly search via handle. No memories are visible to the network except the ones a user has chosen to share the memory with. By sharing, the original user grants permission to the connected user to upload their own media to create a central spot for storage and inclusion of multiple points of view on one event. The app also allows users who created the memory to export their log to a PDF format.
Information Architecture
Orange pages are those that can be found at the navigation bar. Orange outlined pages are where users can find actions, while green outlined pages are for viewing purposes. The dark green pages in a list are those which can be added to the collage page according to what the user sees fit.
User Journey
First Iteration
Initially, I explored a cool color palette mostly using deep blues with accents of striking greens to create a deep and reflective ambience. However, after application on test screens, the aesthetic came across as a cyber-themed app. This had a cognitive dissonance between the app’s function, as journaling is personal and introspective.
